Jeon Woo Chi First Impressions

Omg why are the subs for this drama so slow?

Expectations: Moderate-High

Verdict: Middling

Summary: The first scenes were random but it basically shows as Jeon Woo Chi in his double character, Lee Chi trying to capture renegades. Then it shifts back to the past where Princess Hong Moo-Yeon, Jeon Woo Chi’s love interest got hypnotized and used. Kang Rim and Ma Sook kills Yuldogoog and then goes to Joseon. Joo Woo Chi is saved by his master. In order to bring Princess Hong Moo Yeon back and stop teem, Jeon Woo Chi travels to Joeson and secretly hunts them in his disguise.

Thoughts: I’m a bit disappointed with pilot episodes. It was trying so hard to be flashy to get our attentions instead of laying a good foundation. Seriously the first part was all over the place. It was overwhelming trying to identify each character especially if you haven’t kept up with the news. I’m not sure if my distaste for saeguks was triggered by Arang and the Magistrate, but saeguks aren’t as good as they used to be. Well I’m still giving this drama a chance because it got better before episode 2 ended. The love triangle is something that surprised me. I thought the two leads were just sworn enemies. Who would have known, they used to be friends that fell in love with the same girl. The romance angle was both really adorable and painful. By parts, this drama is great but collectively it isn’t. The editing is crap. Yes, it’s my first time to notice editing this bad. It’s like you forcibly clump everything together and pretend it’s good that way. Since this is slated for 24 episodes, there’s a good chance it will have an upward trajectory. I’m really hoping because if not this drama will always remain as a wasted potential.

Initial Rating: 5.5/10
