The Jackal is Coming Impressions

I was curious on Jaejoong and Song Ji Hyo‘s acting chops. Since the premise was interesting, why not try right?

Expectations: Indifferent

Verdict: Bad

Summary: Clumsy and off-the-wall hit man Bong Min-jung is hired to kill top Hallyu star Choi Hyun. She ambushes him at Paradise Hotel in Seong-ju where the cops are on a stakeout for serial killer “Jackal”. However Min-jung realizes that Hyun is her favorite star, and Hyun finds out that her client is his ex-girlfriend.

Thoughts: I didn’t enjoy this movie that much. Everything I was looking forward to in the movie namely the comedy and suspense were only present in tiny pieces. I think the hostage taking was dragged out too long. There were glimmer of very human emotions but it felt inorganic. The only good thing was this wasn’t overhyped. I don’t think Korean espionage is at a level that can be considered world standard yet. Song Ji Hyo and Jaejoong had nice chemistry if it weren’t for Ji Hyo’s ridiculous hair. The twist in the end was the only thing worth watching.
