Heirs Korean Drama

There are so much actors that I like in this show but the fact that it’s getting so much buzz, turns me off a bit. I’m not Kim Eun Sook fan but her stories do have it’s appeal. So I’ll be watching this with tempered expectations.

The new 20-episode buzz project comes from star writer Kim Eun-sook (A Gentleman’s Dignity). Directing is Kang Shin-hyo (Tazza) and the show has been picked up for a fall broadcast. Heirs purports to be a Gossip Girl–esque trendy drama set in a high school populated by the uber-rich, and with writer Kim at the helm we can expect lots of fast-flying banter and glossy characters. Heirs premieres October 9 on SBS.


Lee Min-ho (Faith) He plays Kim Tan, the heir of Empire Group. His mother is the mistress of the Chairman of the Empire Group. The Chairman lives with Kim Tan’s mother and is separated from his legally married wife. Kim Tan has an older brother, Kim Won. He and Cha Eun Sang like each other.

Park Shin-hye (Flower Boy Next Door) She plays Cha Eun Sang who grew up with Yoon Chan Young. Her deaf mute mother is the housekeeper of the Kim family that owns the vast Empire Group. Since she was small, she took care of mother. She’s embarrassed and to be seen with her mother in public and the fact she can’t travel abroad because of her several part-time jobs. She’s a strong and sunny person but in the recesses of her heart, there’s a small corner that is resentful. Eun Sang has an older sister living in Australia who lied to her about getting married to a rich guy. It’s in Australia, she has encounters Kim Tan. Because that fateful meeting, she decides to transfer to the Empire High School where she claims to be the heiress of the poor. She and Kim Tan like each other.


Kang Min Hyuk (You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly) He plays Yoon Chan Young, who’s described as optimistic and accepting. He writes requisition reports since childhood thus gaining excellent persuading skills despite not being good in his studies. His father is secretary for the Empire Group and he goes to school on scholarship. But he doesn’t need much to be happy. This sincerity touches Lee Bo Na. He is uneasy with the rumors surrounding Kim Tan. His father and Rachel Ryu’s mother were also former lovers.

Kim Ji Won (To the Beautiful You)  She plays Rachel Ryu, who is engaged to Kim Tan for a business marriage. She has a haughty nobility demeanor that she purposes creates so it makes it difficult for people to approach her. She is also manipulative and smart. She wants to become powerful especially seeing the father she used to idolize fall into hard times. This bankruptcy caused her mother to divorce him. Her mother is the president of their hotel group, and remarried the chairman of a resort conglomerate. This is how she becomes step-siblings with Choi Young Do.

Kim Woo-bin (School 2013) He plays Choi Young Do, older brother of Rachel Ryu. He is also the heir to a resort conglomerate. He is calculating and adept in tricks. He used to be close to Kim Tan until he found out that Kim Tan was an illegitimate child. He hated how his father went from one woman to another after the forced divorce of his parents.

Krystal (High Kick 3) She plays Lee Bo Na, heir to an entertainment conglomerate. She’s a very self-absorbed person who wants all the spotlight. She’s good at masking her intentions and making a big deal of things. She’s a perfectionist except because of her klutziness she thwarts her own plans in the end. She was dating Kim Tan until he suddenly left to study abroad. She meets Yoon Chan Young who heals her heart of its wound. Kim Tan returns and she vows to get her revenge on him.

Park Hyung-shik (Nine: Nine Times Travel) He plays Jo Myung Joo, the son of the President of a famous car import company. He’s a layabout and doesn’t want to inherit the family business. He is someone quick to think on his feet.

Kang Ha Neul (Monstar) He plays Lee Hyo Shin, son of a police chief who is smart, handsome, and student body president. He is a year older than all of the Z4 members. He also has a one-sided crush on Jeon Hyun Joo.

Choi Jin-hyuk (Gu Family Book) He plays Kim Won, bright young president who runs his family’s giant conglomerate. He’s rich, but is also accomplished and capable, and basically perfect. His mother is dead. He is the older half-brother of Kim Tan. Kim Won is dating Jeon Hyun Joo.

Im Joo-eun (Arang and the Magistrate). She plays Jeon Hyun Joo, a teacher at Empire High School. She is both chic and heodang, looking cool and collected on the outside while being slightly awkward in real life. The character earns the favor of the Empire Group chairman for her sharp intelligence, although she actually “knows how to do nothing other than study.” She is dating Kim Won.

Jeon Soo Jin (School 2013). She plays Kang Ye Sol.

Kim Sung Ryung (Yawang) She plays Kim Tan’s mom, Han Ki Ae.

Kim Mi Kyung (Master’s Sun). She plays Park Shin Hye’s mom, deaf housekeeper of the Kim family.

Park Joo Eum (Secret Garden) She plays the wife of the Chairman of the Empire group, who is currently living apart from him. She cohabits with Kim Tan’s mom.
