Choi Jin-hyuk (Heirs) and Song Ji-hyo (Mandate of Heaven) are the leads for Emergency Couple. They got married in medical school, but divorced and went their separate ways… until they find themselves six years later interns in the same emergency room, and are forced to work together while bickering as always. Lee Pil-mo (Light and Shadow) and Choi Yeo-jin (Incarnation of Money) have been cast as second leads. Emergency Couple will be directed by PD Kim Chul-kyu, (Daemul). Writing is Choi Yoon-jung (Ruler of Your Own World). Emergency Couple follows Answer Me 1994 and premieres in January on tvN.
Chun Jung-myung (Queen of the Night) is considering headlining Ten Days Ago, which will be another condensed-time thriller. It’s about the final ten days remaining before the statute of limitations runs out on a crime. One person races to uncover the truth while the other struggles to keep it hidden. Its unclear if the hero is doing the uncovering or the hiding. There isn’t much character background other than the fact that he carries deep anguish because of something he did fifteen years ago. Directing is PD Kim Yong-kyun (The Webtoon) and writing is Ahn Young-soo (Itaewon Murder Case) Ten Days Ago is hoping for a March broadcast on OCN.
Kim Hee-sun (Faith) and Lee Seo-jin (Grandpas Over Flowers) will headlining KBS’s new weekend drama Wonderful Season from the Nice Guy duo — acclaimed melo writer Lee Kyung-hee and PD Kim Jin-won. It centers around Lee Seo-jin’s character, a Seoul University graduate and successful prosecutor, with a gaggle of misfit siblings. Ryu Seung-soo (Empire of Gold) plays his hyung, a wannabe actor. Hwang Soo-jung (Salt Doll) plays Lee Seo-jin’s twin noona, who is developmentally challenged and remained in a childlike state ever since an accident during their childhood. Wonderful Season will follow King’s Family and air on Saturdays and Sundays beginning in February.
Jung Woo-sung (Padam Padam) has just signed on to Madam Bbaeng-deok, which will be a departure from the classic interpretation. Jung plays an homme fatale professor who becomes obsessed with love even as he gradually loses his eyesight instead of the blind father whom Shim Chung who takes care of. This film reworking is a provocative melo about a “dangerous love”. Madam Bbaeng-deok will be directed by Im Pil-sung (The Host). The movie plans to begin filming in early 2014 with a release later in the year.
